Merryhills Primary School

Ofsted

We are absolutely thrilled to share that our recent Ofsted inspection report has now been officially published. It is a resounding celebration of everything that makes Merryhills Primary School so extraordinary!

We are immensely proud of our school community and the vision we hold for Merryhills. We continue to strive for excellence for our children every single day simply because that is who we are and what our school exists to do. None of it was ever done for Ofsted. However, to gain the full affirmation of this standard across the board is a wonderful moment and one we want to celebrate loud and proud.

The report puts our children and their daily experience right at the heart of its praise. Inspectors observed how our pupils "thrive in this caring school community", guided daily by the school's values and highlighted that "pupils feel safe." They noted that "lessons about personal identity ensure that pupils develop a secure sense of belonging at the school" and that "children in the early years and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities settle quickly when they arrive because staff help them to feel that they belong." Inspectors also captured how our children "listen to each other respectfully and appreciate others' views", while in the early years, they "talk with interest and curiosity together about their learning."

Building on this solid foundation of belonging and exemplary behaviour, inspectors commended our "comprehensive personal development programme which is responsive to the context of the school community." They highlighted how our "ambitious curriculum enables pupils to build knowledge securely and deeply over time", ensuring our children "make very secure progress across the curriculum and achieve highly." They praised our "consistently highly effective" teaching alongside our broad enrichment opportunities, noting how experiences such as clubs, residential trips, and inspirational visitors "broaden their horizons" so that our pupils are "well prepared for the next stage of their education" and "fully prepared for their next steps" in life. Please take the time to read the full report for more comments and phrases liked this.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to our entire school community for your ongoing support, and above all, a massive thank you to our remarkable children. It was their articulation, curiosity, and exemplary behaviour for learning that truly shone throughout the inspection—and shines bright every single day here at Merryhills.
