Vision
We inspire children and foster curiosity; together we create a better future with values at the heart of everything we do.
Values
Merryhills is a values education based school. A value is a principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. We initially achieved our Values-Based accreditation in 2013, we then achieved the Enhanced Values Certification in 2019.
Our 6 values are:
- Respect, Kindness, Resilience, Curiosity, Responsibility and Collaboration.
We promote our values, focusing on a different one each half term. Our values are reinforced in assemblies, in all aspects of school life and are taught throughout the curriculum. They are fully embedded within our curriculum and are at the heart of everything we do.
We began our values journey back in 2013. Since then, we have reevaluated our values, in discussions with all stakeholders, so that we have 6 instead of 12. They have been selected to reflect who we are and how we grow; how we treat others and how we work together and share our world.
Who I am and how I grow: | How I treat people: | How we work together and share our world: | |||
Curiosity | Resilience | Respect | Kindness | Collaboration | Responsibility |
We promote our values, focusing on a different one each half term. Our values are reinforced in assemblies, in all aspects of school life and are taught throughout the curriculum. We have photographs displayed throughout our school promoting our values and each half term the relevant value is displayed in the front entrance of the building.
Additionally, our school is committed to children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and as part of this we actively promote fundamental British Values (Democracy; The Rule of Law; Individual Liberty; Mutual Respect and Tolerance).
